Johannes Boris Borowski (*1979) is an outstanding voice of New Music. He was promoted early on by prominent artists and commissioners.
His works have been performed by Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, WDR Sinfonieorchester, Pierre Boulez, Susanna Mälkki, George Benjamin, Peter Eötvös, Zubin Mehta and Daniel Barenboim (among others).
He studied composition with Hanspeter Kyburz and Marco Stroppa and did additional studies in music theory with Jörg Mainka.
Recently Borowski has been focused on composing vocal music, he has been collaborating with many singers and pianists (e.g. Lied-Duo Lisa Florentine Schmalz/Mariana Popova).
Borowski lives in Berlin and teaches music theory and composition at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin and at the Rostock University of Music and Drama.
